With such homophobia in hip-hop today it makes you wonder why any artist would post up on his mixtape cover with his shirt off?? Just thinking out loud.. But the main issue is the music and Saigon comes correct with the third installment of Warning Shots. Watch for Joe Budden on track 6.

BILLY DANZE 'RAP UNITED NATION' (RUN)
TAGS
singles
Tweet
"RUN" (Raps United Nation) is the brainchild of M.O.P.’s Billy Danze who throughout the course of his illustrious career and years of extensive international touring could not help but notice and acknowledge how many talented artists he met during his travels who simply lacked a platform to be heard. Who better then a fellow artist to spearhead the charge and give them that platform, as Billy explains “As an artist I understand the frustration. There are so many artists out there that possess the talent of being able to produce and record good music. They are determined; they have the drive and dedication, but feel as if no one notices. I’ve seen and heard what’s out there from an artistic level. These artists need to be heard and have a united voice. I am very passionate about giving them that opportunity and will do anything in my power to help those that really want to win.”
The Music industry has undeniably changed and evolved and artists have been forced to either adapt with it, or go the way of the dinosaur. While the Internet and the proliferation of social media platforms are viable assets for new artists desperately looking for exposure, using those mediums alone is still equivalent to trying to “catch lighting in a bottle.” Billy Danze’s ambitious plans for “RUN” are to create an army of incredible artists from all corners of the globe and to unify and raise awareness for them by creating projects which are loud enough to be heard by the masses; as Billy details “my aim is to get every talented artist a deal. Support on a globalized scale is all an artist really needs or could ask for. I have contacted all my resources and they in return have done the same. A vital key to success in this business is alliance; and I personally have a team in every corner of the world. We can build a team of thousands and support each other.”
There is no disputing the artistic contributions Billy Danze has contributed to the culture as a member of M.O.P., yet, while still in its early infancy, his greatest contribution may still lay in front of him as the founder of “RUN,” as he eloquently states “as a fellow artist, these projects will enable me to be a vital cog in a family of worthy artists that simply need a platform and a voice and to oversee that lends the potential to be the biggest accomplishment of my career. From a business perspective, I believe “RUN” (Raps United Nation”) is a vehicle the industry is desperately lacking. The way to find new talent is to go get it. Industry executives no longer believe in the artist, or artist development, how can the industry grow if we don’t allow new artists to showcase their talent?”

PLANET ASIA - GOLDEN STATE
TAGS
singles
Tweet
Planet Asia helped jump-start the West Coast independent hip-hop movement, releasing a slew of popular 12-inch singles on upstarts like Stones Throw and ABB Records in the late 90s that established him as one of the leaders of a crop of talent that included the likes of Dilated Peoples, Madlib, Murs, and Jurassic 5. Now a 15-year veteran, the Cali-based MC (born in Fresno, he's spent most of his career living in Los Angeles and San Francisco) shows no signs of slowing down. The first decade of the new millennium saw Asia briefly sign with major label Interscope, go independent again for his debut album The Grand Opening, release full-length collaborative projects with both Evidence of Dilated Peoples (The Medicine) and DJ Muggs of Cypress Hill (Pain Language), form his own label (Gold Chain Music), and work with everyone from Linkin Park to Bun B to Ghostface Killah. Now, Planet Asia is back with his first retail album in four years, the star-studded Black Belt Theatre, which hits stores everywhere via Gold Chain/Wandering Worx/Greenstreets on February 28th, 2012.
Named after a 1980s Saturday-afternoon TV show and inspired by Planet Asia's favorite films, Black Belt Theatre combines the violent precision of classic kung-fu flicks with the calculated cool of classic blaxploitation movies. "I wanted to make the album like a movie, something you would see in a theater," says Asia. "That's why it has so many features. All the guests feel like different characters in the movie." These guests include veterans like Raekwon, Talib Kweli, Paul Wall, Ras Kass, Camp Lo, and Strong Arm Steady, as well as newcomers like Fashawn, Willie The Kid, Torae, and Nio Tha Gift. "They're basically just all people I thought were dope," says Asia. "Both young cats I'm feeling and veterans I've always admired." Unlike on his albums with Evidence and DJ Muggs, Asia also got to determine the sonic direction on Black Belt Theatre, resulting in a soul-heavy, blaxploitation-influenced sound. "It was fun because I got to reach out to guys like Oh No and Khrysis for beats, find the best tracks and put together a masterpiece," explains Asia. "It's some esoteric gangster shit…a full plate for the listener."

TAGS
mixtape
Tweet
This mixtape is a compilation of ten tracks, among those many ranging from e.g. contemporary R&B/Indie Pop (Check out his Remix of Drake’s “Doin’ it wrong” and Foster the People’s “Pumped up Kicks” to alt-rock, e.g. (No Doubt’s “Don’t Speak) and classic indie rock (Radiohead’s “Reckoner”)
OneTwoKno is definitely one to watch out for. Not one to be known for being easily labeled, this arranger brings back an emotive, touching, seductive, sexy and pure element to the music that so many producers nowadays seem to have lost touch with. This sound wizard has already been sharing the stage with Uberband The Roots, Lupe Fiasco, British Singer Estelle and rapper B.O.B., as well as working with the wonderful Scarlet Monk on her album “AnnaBella” producing both “De-Stress” & “Permission”
With his “real” and clean approach to every track he works his magic on, “OneTwoKno” “Let’s the music play” like no other. Time to hit the Red Light!

[FREESTYLE] DUNSON AKA KENTON DUNSON - LORD KNOWS
Tweet
Here is Dunson's first single off his upcoming project in the next few weeks. To tide fans over until then, he just released a freestyle over Drake's "Lord Knows". The freestyle details his frustrations as an artist as well as his goals ahead.
Regarding the name change Dunson had this to say:
"As matters progress, I have made the creative decision to continue my artistic journey under the name Dunson. This simply means that I will be dropping Kenton from the artist name. While it doesn’t change very much, we believe it represents a more defined character while allowing for a greater overall reach and impact. At this stage, I find it important to take the necessary steps to touch as many people as possible with what I offer as an artist. This allows me to accomplish that with more precision and less confusion." - Dunson

COPYWRITE fEAT JAKKI DA MOTA MOUTH - SWAGGOT KILLAZ
TAGS

Heavy is the head that wears the crown! Over the course of his now decade long-career, Copywrite has been a lightning rod of controversy, engaged in numerous beefs (some of which have lived out in real time and not just on the microphone). Yet, in life, lessons are learned, you grow and mature; and above all else life has a way of imparting upon you what’s truly important.
For Copywrite, the devastation he felt from the loss of close friends and family members has heavily impacted his view of the world and his place in it. Leaders are bestowed a great deal of responsibility and they can influence those around them to do the right things, or they can lead them astray; Copywrite has chosen the former as his path. Following the successes of his debut LP (“The High Exhaulted”) and his most recent sophomore album (“The Life and Times of Peter Nelson”), Copywrite found himself at a crossroad. He had first become popular in the underground scene for his battle raps and witty punch lines. With the release of “Life and Times of Peter Nelson” Copywrite found critical success (XXL Magazine, Hiphopdx.com, Thewellversed.com, URB.com etc) by being more honest and candid about his life. Some fans yearned for the Copywrite who ripped other rappers to shreds; while critics and newer fans appreciated the deeper more introspective side of Copywrite. Mix all of that in along with the deaths of a few close friends and family members that have taken place since “The Life and Times of Peter Nelson” was released a year ago emboldened Copywrite to strengthen himself in his faith to change his content moving forward.
What this offers the listener is a true look into the artist, who like many of us, starts something one way, but finishes it in a different manner. With “God Save the King” Copywrite delivers another brutally honest record that reaches for new creative heights. “God Save The King” will be released on February 28th, 2012. Hit the jump for the album playist.

"I would like to present my latest track "Pray", I go in over Common's "Celebrate" instrumental. When I get down, mad, happy, or sad I am not usually one to express myself through words but rather through song. This track is meant to be a conversation between me and the lord above. The album artwork is actually my own original artwork I came up with for the track, making this one a little more personal than all the rest."

Bringing in the new year with a Bomb T.I drops the rap games virtual ball on New Year's Day with the release of Fuck The City Up (click link for mixtape) Mixtape. Second guessing himself from last year stance with the release of FuckAMixtape with DJ Drama. The overall sound of FuckAMixtape came off as a declaration to end all mixtape releases and instead drop real genuine albums. Well the trend continues and mixtape after mixtape continues to get released, don't get me wrong this mixtape will be another T.I. classic with features from Young Jeezy, and an unreleased verse from Pimp C, RIP. See for yourself by clicking the read more tab for the mixtape download and stream.
